The Loss of a Conservation Hero
The
world of conservation suffered a great loss on the 2nd of March 2012,
when Lawrence Anthony passed away peacefully in his sleep. Known
internationally for his compassionate intervention at the Baghdad Zoo
during the coalition invasion of Iraq, and his subsequent books
Babylon’s Ark and The Elephant Whisperer, his life was a true reflection
of an extraordinary man who lived by the mantra that nothing
is insurmountable. As founder of “The Earth Organization”, his
initiatives will continue to make a massive impact in the world of
conservation.
Anthony is an award winning conservationist,
explorer, adventurer, author and founder of The Earth Organization. His
new book 'The Last Rhinos' will be released at the end of March.
His sons say that their father was a remarkable man who lived his life
to the fullest and never looked back on any choices he made.
He leaves behind his wife Francoise, his two sons, Dylan and Jason, and two grandsons, Ethan and Brogan.
He was truly one of my heroes and he will surely be missed by the whole
EARTH. My deepest condolences to all his family and friends, including
the wildlife he saved. May Mr. Anthony rest in peace, knowing his
legacy lives on in the wildlife and in those of us he inspired.
